The Los Angeles Unified and California Department of Education State Seal of Biliteracy are awarded to students in 12th grade. Grants, down payment assistance and other programs are now available to public service professionals in the Los Angeles area, including nurses and healthcare employees, law enforcement and staff, firefighters, EMT's, first responders, military and government employees. We offer a purchase assistance program for first-time, low income homebuyers to help them finance their first home.

The City of Los Angeles Housing Department offers two programs, the Low Income Purchase Assistance and Mortgage Credit Certificate , that can help you achieve your dream of homeownership.

Students collaborate with their peers to construct their understanding of subject matter. Culturally relevant and global themes are embedded in the curriculum, allowing students to create global connections, connections to their communities, and the world. The aspiration of the academy is to have multilingual students graduate college and career ready with proficiency in both the language they bring to the academy and academic English. Grades 2-12 — English Speakers may enter the program if their target language performance is on par with students who are already in the program. To determine eligibility, a target language assessment will be administered by the school to students who have not previously participated in a Dual Language Education Program. The LAUSD provides services and purchases goods for over 600,000 students in 1200+ locations.

Students will remain on the waiting list for their first choice with an on-time application even if offered a seat at another program with a late application. DLE programs are located on regular school campuses with access to activities and experiences shared with the host school. The Dual Language One-Way Immersion program is designed to provide English Learners the opportunity to receive grade-level standards based content in English and in a language other than English . If there are more qualified applicants than spaces available at the school, a random, unbiased selection process will be conducted. Siblings of current students in the dual language program have priority for attendance. There is no priority point accrual process for Dual Language Education programs. If there are more applicants than spaces available for a given grade, students will be placed on a waiting list.The waiting list number is not disclosed.

District officials didn’t find this out until they were well into the process of trying to make units specifically for them. In an effort to provide alternative lending programs for educators and public employees, Mountain West Financial introduced CalPATH in October 2013 to benefit those who serve our local communities. The program is now available for either a home purchase or refinance and is offered exclusively by MWF retail branch offices throughout California. Students enrolled in the International Newcomer Academy receive a curriculum with language integrated into the daily instruction. Non-resident students who wish to participate in the INA must submit a Choices application. Students who are assigned to a designated INA through the ZOC process and meets the eligibility criteria, will be selected to attend that site's INA. Non-resident students from Belmont HS and Bernstein HS wishing to participate in the INA will need to submit a Choices application. Non-US born High School students who have been enrolled in U.S. schools for 0-3 years or less that speak any language other than English.

On September 20th 2013, CalSTRS announced that the program was to be suspended due to current market conditions. CalSTRS maintains that they will continue their relationship with Mountain West Financial, while monitoring the market for opportunities to re-launch the CalSTRS Home Loan Program at a later date. A Mortgage Credit Certificate provides eligible, first-time homebuyers with a federal income tax credit based on 20% of the annual interest paid on a mortgage. Complete a placement appeal through the ZOC office if the INA site was indicated as first choice on the ZOC application and the student was not assigned to INA.

The LIPA program helps first-time, low-income homebuyers purchase homes in the City of Los Angeles by providing loans to cover the down payment, closing and acquisition cost. The MCC program provides a dollar-for-dollar reduction to the homebuyer’s potential federal income tax liability. This increases the household income available to qualify for a home mortgage. Schools will notify parents of students who applied with an on-time or with a late application who are on the waiting list, when a space becomes available. No further action is necessary for parents of students on the on-time or late waiting list.

As students continue to participate in Dual Language Education programs from TK to 12th grade, they reach advanced levels of academic and language proficiency in both languages and gain sociocultural understanding and competence. Students are recognized in Kindergarten for their commitment to bilingualism, and in first grade for their commitment to biliteracy.

Grades — English Learners who speak the target language of the program are eligible to participate. If you are an LAUSD employee, you may qualify for a special home loan through CalSTERS. This special home loan program is open to over 700,000 CalSTRS members including LAUSD employees and college educators. To provide schools and administrative offices with goods and services they need - when they need them. In doing this, we must ensure procurement laws are followed and the District achieves the most cost effective prices for goods and services.
